Dreams

What happens when the warehouse worker begins looking for their sense of destiny? What happens when the office worker starts wondering what change they should make in their world? It's a question I think many around me are starting to ask themselves more often. And as a follower of Christ, I'm glad.

Today, I'm asking myself these questions again. I've met the needs of people around me as I'm able and I've encouraged others to do the same. I've written publicity material for a global non-profit and I've spoken frequently about the struggles of people without adequate income to meet daily needs. But as good as that is, I think there's room for more in my life.

But what is that "more?" Where does it happen? How does it happen? How does it relate to my current efforts? Could it be a new role I create in my current organization?

When I'm most honest, I have to say I really don't know. I'm asking God frequently how I can best serve the people of the world, my home. I'm talking with friends I trust about possibilities. But I don't want to blindly follow the individualism of my culture. I firmly believe that what I want isn't the first priority. The needs of the community (faith, local, regional, world or otherwise) are important.

In coming days this week, I want to examine what it mean to really think about the needs of others first in terms of the broader world. I think I have a great deal to learn from other cultures in this regard.

Hey man, I don't have a lot to say about this, but wanted to let you know I read it.....and it's good.
